Peter Watts

Peter grew up in Twickenham and trained at the National Youth Theatre. He is a graduate of the University of York, with a BA (Hons) in Writing, Directing and Performance. During his final year of University, Peter was cast in the title role of Hamlet with the York Shakespeare Project - a company committed to performing all of Shakespeare’s plays in York by 2020. The production ran to great success, and after graduating Peter went on to reprise the role of the Danish Prince at the RSC’s outdoor theatre at the Dell, in Stratford-on-Avon. He has worked as an Actor ever since, performing onstage internationally and all around the UK.
Most recently, Peter made a cameo appearance in Debbie Tucker Green’s acclaimed play Ear For Eye at London’s Royal Court Theatre, before helping to devise and subsequently appearing in a new children’s musical ’The Heart of Winter’ at the Watermans Arts Centre from December 2018 - January 2019. His other recent work onstage includes playing Touchstone in Shakespeare's 'As You Like It' at the York Theatre Royal; The Proprietor in a London revival of Stephen Sondheim’s musical ‘Assassins’ at the Pleasance; Caterpillar in Immersion Theatre’s UK Tour of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ at venues including the Theatre Royal Bury St. Edmunds, Whitley Bay Playhouse and the Pitlochry Festival Theatre. In the Autumn of 2017, he alternated the roles of Stanhope and the Colonel in MESH Theatre’s inaugural production of R.C. Sherriff’s ‘Journey’s End’, which played at the Kruitmagazijn in Ypres, Belgium - over the road from the Menin Gate - to mark the centenary of the end of the Great War.
Now a resident of North London, Peter is also an accomplished writer and works regularly as a Magician and Stand-up Comedian. In March 2019, he fought a White Collar Boxing Match in front of a sold-out crowd at the Clapham Grand to raise money for the Samaritans. He is thrilled to be joining the cast of ‘The Shearing Gang’, and working with such an exciting creative team and community cast.
